Ericka Kalp, PhD, MPH, CIC, FAPIC has 20 years of experience in epidemiology and infection prevention and control at local and state health departments, acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care, and specialty clinics. She is currently the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and Consulting at ECRI. In addition, Dr. Kalp is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Dornsife School of Public Health (DSPH) at Drexel University. She teaches epidemiology and research methods at Shippensburg University (2023) and Chamberlain University (2017-2022). Prior to these roles, Dr. Kalp served as an epidemiologist and program manager at the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) for the Bureau of Epidemiology’s Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship program. Before her position with the PA DOH, Dr. Kalp was the Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at WellSpan Health (formerly Summit Health) for fourteen years. She has also been Project Coordinator and Senior Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Infection Control Epidemiologist at Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and Bioterrorism Surveillance Review Epidemiologist for Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She held the position, Acute Communicable Disease Database Manager at the Philadelphia Department of Health. She has been board-certified in Infection Prevention and Control and Epidemiology (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) since 2007. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Dr. Kalp has been certified in Lean/Six Sigma as a Green Belt (LSSGB) since 2021. Dr. Kalp has presented at local, state, and national conferences and has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts.
Hillary Hei, MPH, CIC, LSSGB, HEM, FAPIC is a certified Infection Preventionist at ECRI in Plymouth Meeting, PA and a designated Fellow of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Hillary has experience across multiple settings, including pediatric acute care, outpatient pediatric hemodialysis, long-term care, and dentistry. As a contractor for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Hillary served as part of the Infection Control and Outbreak Response (ICOR) Team for long-term care facilities, providing COVID outbreak mitigation strategies and direct consultation to non-traditional healthcare settings. Additionally, Hillary serves as an adjunct professor for the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health. Hillary is an active member of APIC and served on the national Research Committee. As part of her tenure, she also served as the liaison for the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC) and remains a current peer reviewer for the journal. She is currently the Director of Communications and an active part of the Membership Committee for her local Delaware Valley/Philadelphia APIC Chapter. Hillary has presented at local and national conferences and has multiple articles in peer-reviewed publications. Hillary earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Duke University and her Master in Public Health in Epidemiology from Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. Prior to joining the field of Infection Prevention and Control, Hillary conducted scientific research using in vitro and in vivo models and worked in a healthcare microbiology laboratory. She has been Certified in Infection Control (CIC) since 2017. She has also been certified in Lean/Six Sigma as a Green Belt (LSSGB) since 2019.
