This course is designed for clinical dental providers to review the crazy world of dental burs and rotary instruments. There are hundreds, if not thousands of burs on the market, and each one comes with it’s own packaging, instructions for use and reprocessing. In order to navigate the world of burs, understanding packaging symbols, manufacturers instructions, packaging and storage are critical in keeping patients safe and preventing infection. There are challenges with managing so many dental burs, let’s get your office on the right track!

  1. Identify how burs are classified by the FDA and how this classification affects your processes when managing burs and rotary instruments    
  2. Discuss the manufacturer's instructions for use, device packaging, and how to decipher packaging symbols for dental burs and rotary instruments    
  3. Explain ways to identify, organize, and store burs to maintain their efficacy and sterility

With a career spanning 17 years, Sarah has grown to become passionate in infection control protocols and compliance measures within dental settings. She leverages her expertise to educate fellow practitioners on the importance of prioritizing compliance, creating a safer dental visit and utilizing public health concepts to inform actions in their practice.

Sarah lives in the Midwest and enjoys the time she has at home with her 3 kids and many pets. When she’s not supporting dental facilities, she enjoys reading fantasy fiction and travels regularly as a paranormal investigator and photographer.
