Is Antibiotic Stewardship a Dental Concern?

This course defines antibiotic stewardship and presents dentistry’s role in appropriate antibiotic prescribing practices. Links to trusted sources offer guidance on antibiotic stewardship and on the prevalence and implications of antibiotic resistance. A relevant workplace scenario illustrates the differences in antibiotic prescribing practices between two types of dental facilities.

Practical comparison charts contrast earlier versus current prescribing paradigms for antibiotic use within dentistry. Quick links to strategies and resources for learning more are provided. A video quiz, discussion guide, and key takeaways offer learning opportunities to engage the dental team.
