2025 ADS Pre-Conference: Workplace Violence Prevention – Train the Trainer (On-Demand)

This is a STEP- BY- STEP Train the Trainer course that helps safety coordinators, dentists, consultants, and employers conduct Workplace Violence Prevention Training. OSHA defines Workplace Violence as “any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide.” According to CDC, Workplace Violence can happen to any type of worker in any work setting and cause long-term effects, both physical and psychological. In recent years, multiple incidents of Workplace Violence including homicide have occurred in dental settings While Workplace Violence prevention training requirements vary by state and industry, OSHA and CDC recommend employees be trained on how to recognize, avoid, and respond to potentially violent situations. After attending this workshop you will be able to identify the 4 types of workplace violence, explain how to prevent and respond to violent situations to avoid physical harm, recognize warning signs of potentially violent behavior re: coworkers, patients, or strangers, explain de-escalation techniques and facilitate training that promotes team engagement. Take-aways include a checklist on how to conduct a site specific risk assessment, Tips for de-escalation techniques, a training agenda, and reliable resources.
