A true culture of safety in dentistry extends far beyond the boundaries of infection control, sterilization procedures, and technical clinical protocols. While infection control and clinical protocols are essential for physical safety in dentistry, a modern culture of safety must equally address the often-overlooked psychological, emotional, and social dimensions that impact patient trust and outcomes. This requires a person-centered approach that values the whole individual—mind, body, and spirit. This session introduces a comprehensive safety framework built upon two interrelated pillars: trauma-informed care and wellness promotion. Grounded in evidence-informed approaches and enriched by real-world examples, this session will offer participants actionable strategies to embed trauma-informed and wellness-centered practices into dental care. Attendees will leave with a renewed understanding of dental safety—one that extends beyond physical protection to encompass dignity, respect, psychological security, and professional sustainability.
